Rev. Dr. Michael A. Jolla

Reverend Michael A. Jolla serves as the senior pastor of the "Exciting" West End Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. Prior to this role, he dedicated fifteen years to St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas. Originally hailing from Weyanoke, Louisiana (outside of Baton Rouge, LA), Dr. Jolla earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern University in Baton Rouge, subsequently working for Mobil Oil in the field of Electrical Engineering upon graduation.

His ministry commenced in 1990 under the guidance of Dr. Barry A. Jackson and Dr. C. L. Rainey in Texas. Dr. Jolla graduated with honors from Brite Divinity School, obtaining a Master of Divinity (MDiv), and later achieved a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) from Baylor University. He is a proud member of the Theta Alpha Kappa Religious Studies Honors Society.

Pastor Jolla has held various significant roles, including serving as Treasurer for the National Missionary Baptist Convention and as a national instructor for the National Baptist Sunday School. He is a writer for the Sunday School lessons for the Boyd Publishing House in Nashville, TN. His contributions to community service have been recognized with the key to the city of Greenville and the NACWC Darcus Club’s Humanitarian Award.

In addition to his pastoral duties, he has owned J Le Beautique, a men's clothing boutique, for thirty years, and he lives by the principle found in Matthew 6:33, seeking divine guidance in all endeavors.

He is a family man. Reverend Jolla was married to former First Lady Sandra Reese Jolla in 1989 and were married 32 years before the Lord called her to her rest. They are proud parents of two daughters and a son-in-law: Brasha in Dallas, and Minister Steven and Brianna Scallion in San Antonio. In August 2025, he is looking forward to retirement and enjoying his hobbies of traveling, writing, and being around family.
